第731期：2020年这是怎么了？We got off on the wrong foot？

2020年不知是怎么了，开年不到一个月，世界各地灾害频仍，就没消停过一天。

是不是真的庚子年就是这个运道轮回？

昨天在想这个问题时，突然想到一句英语成语：get off on the wrong foot 开局不利。

其实这个成语最常见的说法是：get off on the right foot；或者 start off on the right foot.

意思是To have a positive or favorable start. 类似汉语说的“开门红”的意思，就是有个好开端，好开头，have a good beginning.

例句：

It’s important to get off on the right foot in this new job. 这份新工作有个好开头很重要。

很多时候，我们与人刚认识时一开始没开好头，以后就不好相处了。这个意思也可以用这个成语表达。

例句：

We have a staff meeting this morning. If you want to get off on the right foot with the manager, be prepared to put some ideas on the table.

明早有个大会。如果你想跟经理建立良好关系的话（留个好印象，开个好头），你就准备一下明天在会上提些好建议。

上面说的都是这个成语的基础形式：get off on the right foot.

说的都是开个好头的意思。

这里的right如果换成wrong就变成相反的意思了。

Get off on the wrong foot的意思就是开了个不好的头，开局不利，have a bad start.

例句：

不管是get off on the right foot 还是 the wrong foot,都是生活中常见的情形，很多时候我们也左右不了。
