第2125期:外企电邮怪现状之 I never say “noted”

以前讲过,很多外企的人收到别人邮件时没有反应,既不回复也不说一声收到了。在我的观念里,这是一种职场电邮失礼行为。

还有很多人收到别人邮件时知道要回复,喜欢写“Noted, thx.”,意思是“知道了,收到,谢谢。”

Again,在我的观念里,这也是一种粗糙的电邮礼仪缺失。

首先只说 noted不礼貌,其次,用thx缩写Thanks既无必要也不礼貌,你真的忙到连六个字母的thanks都不能拼全吗?

在X上读到一则推文:we don’t say “Noted” anymore,列举了替代Noted这种说法的正式和非正式两组说法,值得学习。

“Noted” in a professional setting (formal)

  • Acknowledged, thank you.
  • Understood, I’ll proceed accordingly.
  • Got it, I’ll address this.
  • Thank you, I’ll keep this in mind.
  • I’ll take note of that, thank you.
  • Appreciate the update, I’ll act on it.
  • Received and understood.
  • Noted. I’ll make sure this is handled.
  • Message received. I’ll take care of it.
  • Understood, I’ll move forward with this.
  • Thanks, I’ll ensure this is implemented.
  • Acknowledged, I’ll take the necessary steps.
  • Thank you, I’ll review it and get back to you.
  • Got it, I’ll follow up as needed.

“Noted” in a casual setting (informal)

  • Got it, thanks!
  • Understood will do.
  • I’ve taken note.
  • Received with thanks.
  • Thanks for the update!
  • Acknowledged.
  • I’ll make sure to follow up.
  • Copy that.
  • I’ll proceed accordingly.
  • Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind.
  • Appreciate the heads-up.
  • Got your message loud and clear.
  • Thanks for letting me know!
  • Message received!
  • Got it, will take care of it.

  • Noted/received/acknowledged with thanks. (Informal)

总之一个原则:收到别人的电邮要有反应,不要像条死鱼。让别人知道你收到了,如果需要跟进,告诉对方你会跟进。如果不需要跟进,只是FYI,告诉对方你知晓了,感谢对方好意。

有来言有去语,致歉道谢,彬彬有礼,这本该是职场电邮的常识和基本守则。

外企还有一个常见的电邮现象——邮件吵架,而且全英语。

我每次看到这种邮件都直接删除,不论与我是否有关。大多数人的英语还没好到可以用英语吵架说理辩论的地步,骂街和牢骚可以,电邮吵架还是算了,耽误我看书。
