第2076期:A poem – Halloween

I’ve never celebrated the Halloween

I even thought ’twas “Hollow wane”

Or “Holy, I ween” (Holy, I think)

But it’s more than that

The youth dress up in skeletons

Spooky but funky faces

The aged recall the old days

The Déjà vu tricks

The treats abounded when they were young

Tonight’s streets teem with carnival

Pathos is nowhere to be found

I heard Halloween was not created equal

Somewhere amongst the living

Death is still a taboo

Living men fear the dead souls

Or anyone insinuating –

living playing dying

Get on their brittle nerves

The walking ghosts

In and of themselves

I’ve never been in a Halloween

Except when I happened to

Here is to all the invisible

Martyrs, hallows, and all those

Have passed
