前不久我开始穿袜子睡觉了，感觉很好，再也不怕睡觉时脚底着凉了。
今天我们就来聊一个英语成语：cold feet.
咱们先说说手脚冰凉这个生理现象，很多人，尤其女性在秋冬季节常见的问题。
如果你的手脚经常冰凉，有以下几种病理性可能：

英语中说 get cold feet或have cold feet一般指的不是真的手脚冰凉，而是一个比喻，意思是突然胆怯了，不敢做某事了，类似汉语说的“打退堂鼓”。

如果非要翻译“打退堂鼓”这句话，可以翻译成 beat a retreat.
Beat a retreat跟get cold feet意思类似，也是临阵退缩的意思。
例句：
Now I can’t beat a retreat, but I regret my participation in this project.
现在我已经没法退出了，但我真的后悔参加这个项目。
