好了，终于了了一桩小心愿。今天我们就来聊聊考拉。

关于考拉，很多人犯了两个错误。

第一是把考拉的英文写错并读错，koala，读音近似“口哇啦”，不是“考拉”。这主要是这个错误的汉语音译造成的。

第二是把考拉叫做熊。Koalas are not bears—they’re marsupials.

下面是一些关于考拉的基础词汇和常识：

• Pouch – 育儿袋

• Joey – 幼兽，动物的幼崽

• Eucalyptus – 桉树（考拉终生住在桉树上，仅以桉树叶一种食物为生）

考拉的每只手上有五根手指，其中两个是拇指（thumb），每只脚上有两个长在一起的大脚趾，平时用来梳头。

这样才能保证平时不从树上掉下去。

• Koalas Have Fingerprints

考拉和人类一样有个体唯一的指纹，并且每只考拉的鼻子都有唯一的个体特征，这也是动物学家用来识别考拉的重要标识。

• Koalas don’t need to drink water

考拉不需要喝水，也不能直接喝水。它们身体所需的水分都通过桉树叶而来。Koala这个名字据说在澳洲原住民（Aboriginal people）的语言里本意就是“no drink”或”no water”.

• Koalas Smell Like Eucalyptus

因为考拉极端“挑食“，只吃桉树叶，因此是唯一一种浑身散发”尤加利油香“的动物。经常用尤加利精油做SPA的女生会喜欢的。

• Koalas sleep 18-22 hours a day

一只考拉的一生（20年左右）基本上都是在睡梦中渡过的。据说原因有二，一是桉树叶提供的热量太少，不够支持太多活动。二是桉树叶有毒，考拉的长睡是被毒晕了。

自从2019年3月在澳洲亲手抱了一只考拉后，考拉就成了我最爱的小动物。前年看到澳洲大火烧死了很多考拉的新闻，当时真的心都碎了。
