他觉得自己好差劲—— “He fell short of his ideal in more than a dozen areas of his life, he concluded. He ate and drank too much. He talked too much, especially about himself. He spent more money than he should. He didn’t finish all his goals.

1. Temperance 节制. Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation.

2. Silence 沉默. Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversation.

3. Order 有序. Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time.

4 Resolution 决心. Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.

5. Frugality 节俭. Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing.

6. Industry 勤奋. Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.

7. Sincerity 真诚. Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak accordingly.

8. Justice 公正. Wrong none by doing injuries, or omitting the benefits that are your duty.

9. Moderation 适度. Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.

10. Cleanliness 整洁. Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, clothes, or habitation.

11. Tranquillity 平静. Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable.

12. Chastity 贞节. Rarely use venery but for health or offspring, never to dullness, weakness, or the injury of your own or another’s peace or reputation.

13. Humility 谦卑. Imitate Jesus and Socrates.

Benjamin Franklin.

Franklin’s 13 Virtues.

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin.
