Takayama.

“If you lose something in Japan, there is a good chance that you can get it back. In Japan, a large number of lost items, including wallets with cash and smart phones, are turned in to police and many of them are returned to the owners. This is due to the fact that there is a very good system for tracking lost items and Japanese people are honest in reporting lost items.”(japanlivingguide.com)

Bloomberg有篇文章“Japan’s Lost-and-Found System Is Insanely Good”,有兴趣的读者可以一读(https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-02-10/why-japan-s-lost-and-found-system-works-so-well

“Tokyo citizens turned in over ¥3.99 billion in lost cash to the police in 2022 instead of simply pocketing it. Yes, even in this economy!”

Lost and Found在英国叫 “Lost Property”,现代的Office for Lost and Found是法国的一项发明,据说是1805年拿破仑下令在巴黎建立的。

In addition to lost cash, Tokyo citizens also turned in 3.43 million lost items to the police last year. The most commonly found items were identification documents, followed by ‘securities’ such as pre-paid transport passes, clothing, wallets and umbrellas.
