Wikipedia

“Cold turkey” refers to the abrupt cessation(突然终止) of a substance dependence and the resulting unpleasant experience, as opposed to gradually easing the process through reduction over time or by using replacement medication. The term comes from the piloerection(竖起的汗毛) or “goose bumps(鸡皮疙瘩)” that occurs with abrupt withdrawal from opioids(鸦片、吗啡类用品), which resembles the skin of a plucked refrigerated turkey.

A faster but unpleasant method of stopping an addictive habit, such as drugs or alcohol. It means that you just totally, completely stop, and never do it again (or at least try to).
