第271期：I have a sweet tooth

吃罢晚饭，买了一堆日本和果子回房间，想起一个英语说法：I have a sweet tooth. 我喜欢吃甜食。今天我们就来学一下这个说法。

sweet tooth用英语解释就是：a strong liking for sweet foods.

剑桥大词典上说，If you have a sweet tooth, you like eating sweet foods, especially sweets and chocolate.

上面的意思是，“喜欢吃甜食”英语是”have a sweet tooth”. 需要注意的是，在这种用法里，tooth只能是单数（only in singular），不能写成teeth.

除了这种用法，sweet tooth还可以表示喜欢吃甜食的人本身。这时候sweet tooth就变成了一个可数名词，一个喜欢吃甜食的人是a sweet tooth,两个喜欢吃甜食的人就是2 sweet tooths（注意：仍然不能说teeth）。

学会了sweet tooth的两个意思，下面我们扩充一下。

“我喜欢吃甜食“这句话还可以说”I have a craving for sweets. (sweet加上s表示各种甜食）。

如果你喜欢吃糖，可以说I crave sugar. (crave是及物动词，后面不需加介词）

最后，提醒大家，糖和甜食对健康的伤害非常大。糖经常被称为健康第一杀手。但究竟吃多少糖才叫多，科学界并没有一个统一的说法。
