第1177期：爱死个人儿的 bluebird day – 兼谈蓝鸟在中英文里的文化意涵

连续一星期蓝天白云，看得喜欢，想起一个英文单词，尽管不十分贴切：bluebird day.

什么是 bluebird day（蓝鸟日）呢？

指的不是一个具体的日子，而是指晴朗的蓝天白云的好天气，特别是刚下过雪之后的那种格外蓝的天。

雪霁天晴朗，腊梅处处香。骑驴把桥过，铃儿响叮当，的那种。

这个词最早只是滑雪（ski）爱好者们说的，后来也逐渐用在其他不下雪的时候。

有一个有趣的现象—— bluebird 这种鸟在英语中一直象征着 joy, happiness, luck, honesty, harmony 等美好的事物，尤其在北美地区，特别是美国印第安图腾文化中。

我猜真是这个原因北美英语中才有了 bluebird day 这个说法的吧。

无独有偶，中国古代文化中也一直把“青鸟”当作上天的使者（西王母的使鸟）和吉祥的象征。

Bluebird 到底是种什么鸟呢？

一般来说，指的是北美地区的东部蓝鸲（“鸲”音同“渠”），英文名：Eastern bluebird；学名：Sialia sialis.

大概是早期印第安人经常看见这种鸟，所以才取了这个意象吧。

中国古诗词里的“青鸟”原型是什么鸟，这个我就没研究过了，只记得李商隐的那首著名的诗：

相见时难别亦难，东风无力百花残。

春蚕到死丝方尽，蜡炬成灰泪始干。

晓镜但愁云鬓改，夜吟应觉月光寒。
