“Make no mistake: resetting the Clock at 90 seconds to midnight is not an indication that the world is stable. Quite the opposite. It’s urgent for governments and communities around the world to act. And the Bulletin remains hopeful—and inspired—in seeing the younger generations leading the charge.”

The other day, my German colleague greeted me, “I will cross my fingers.” I replied, “Danke. Aber all my fingers have been so crossed that they almost broke.”

There is nothing you or I, as feeble as leeks, as fragile as snowflakes, can do to reverse the clock. It’s all up to the ambitious politicians’ impulse and bloated ego. It’s all in the big brothers’ fat hands.

Time is our enemy. This adage has never sounded more menacing and spine-chilling. But to which, I say, our enemy is not time; our enemy is our illusion. In an era where most people don’t know what they’re doing, we must keep our eyes and minds open. If the world is doomed, it’s doomed. If the sea level is to rise, it will. Learn to swim, build your Noah, or save money to buy your ticket for any ark.

Sit straight, buckle up, look ahead, think deep, listen within, work out, live on.
