看到国内一些网站上把这句话翻译错了，今天专门写一期，以正视听，免得他们继续误人子弟。

When the going gets tough是一句英语成语，the going的意思就是the situation, 事情、情况、形势，when the going gets tough意思就是 when things get really bad, difficult, or hard to deal with. 重点是 the going这种说法，可能你不太常见到。

后面半句是后来加上的，出处有争议，有说源自美式橄榄球界教练给队员鼓舞士气时常说的话，也有说是美国总统JFK的父亲Joseph P. Kennedy首创的。出处不重要，重要的是正确理解这句话的意思。

The tough get going 中的 the tough指的是一类人，the tough guys, the strong people，people with true resolve, determination, or strength of character，坚强的人，强人，坚定不移的人；get going 意思是 start moving, take actions, do something, 行动起来，迎难而上，解决问题。
