第270期：网约车英语怎么说？

今天我们来聊聊网约车相关的英语。网约车服务叫ride-hailing service或car-hailing service. 你知道ride-hailing和ride-sharing有什么区别吗？

提到网约车，在美国几乎就等同于Uber, 在中国就是Didi Chuxing（滴滴出行）。Didi这个商标已经成为一个正式的英语单词了，很多英语媒体都知道Didi.

Hail最基本意思有两个，名词是“冰雹”，动词是“欢呼”。ride hailing选用了hail的一个动词词义：to call out loudly in order to gain the attention of.

如果你查字典的话，这个词义的例句通常是：Hail a taxi. 叫出租车。

Hail的这个词义准确地翻译就是“招呼”、“召唤”。汉语中“叫出租车”中的“叫”并不是真的“叫”（cry out），而是招呼、呼唤出租车。这样想来，就不难理解英语为什么用ride hailing来命名网约车这种新鲜事物了吧。
