第1737期：Fool me once, twice, and three times?

英文里有句谚语：

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

意思是 If someone takes advantage of me twice, I only have myself to blame. 第一次被骗，怪骗子。第二次被骗（同样的手段），只能怪你自己。

2002年，在一次公开讲话中，时任美国总统George W. Bush（小布什）想引用这句谚语，结果一时语塞，说成了“Fool me once, shame on – shame on you. Fool me – can’t get fooled again.” 搞得跟说相声似的，愣把一句正经谚语搞成了一个砸挂包袱。

这句谚语的出处没有确定的说法，有说出自圣经的，有说来自意大利谚语的。

The Italians have a Proverb, ‘He that deceives me once, it’s his fault.’ – Anthony Weldon (1651)

英文里倒是还有一个表达类似意思的谚语，出自圣经《箴言篇》（Book of Proverbs）：

As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

*returneth – returned

说一个人犯同样错误，就像狗去吃自己的呕吐秽物一样愚蠢。

悬念大师Stephen King在这句谚语基础上添油加醋地戏谑道：“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us.”

美国说唱歌手J. Cole唱道：

Fool me one time, shame on you,

Fool me twice, can’t put the blame on you,

Fool me three times, f*ck the peace signs,

Load the copper, let it rain on you.

然而现实中无数人被骗被骗再被骗，同样的人，同样的手法，同样的说辞，同样的理论，自己被卖了还帮人贩子数钱，这么好骗的标的物，不骗都不行。这么简单的脑子，配得上被骗的苦难。

早上坐在马桶上了看了会儿X，又看得泪水涟涟，觉出一种压抑下的心痛，酸楚却只是看不见，就像明明没有便秘，却每次都像大便干结一样心机费尽。想起今年三月在张掖旅游时的一天，站在马蹄寺景区的山上，看下面山坡上吃草的羊群，脑中涌起一句诗句：这些无忧无虑的羊，不知道晚上会红烧还是清蒸，手抓还是穿成串？
