第1785期：迷你裙有多迷你？埋膝裙有多埋膝？

Miniskirt（迷你裙）这个词造得音译得都很棒，传神，上口。要感谢英国服装设计师Mary Quant女士(Feb 11, 1930 – Apr 13, 2023)，给它起了个这么棒的名字——她用自己最喜欢的汽车Mini Cooper命名了这种很短的裙子 —— miniskirt.

Mini Cooper如今是宝马汽车旗下的一个品牌，发明人是John Cooper, the inventor of the Formula One car.

Mary Quant只是给迷你裙起了名字，但这种裙子不是她设计的，据说1964年由法国服装设计师André Courrèges首创。

不论怎样，感谢这两位设计师的创举。

Mini skirt

标准的miniskirt多长呢？

一般来说，裙摆（hemline）到大腿的中间部位，臀下10公分左右，这个长度最标准。也有比这个更短的超短裙，中文里有几种很不雅的说法，本文不采纳，英文可以称为 ultra short skirt, micro miniskirt

Maxi skirt

裙摆在脚踝上方一点的长裙英文叫 maxi skirt，常简称为maxi，香港作家西西把这个词译为“埋膝裙”。

比maxi skirt再长的，裙裾拖到地板上的拖地长裙英文就叫 floor-length skirt或full-length skirt.

时尚这东西，无非就是长长短短，肥肥瘦瘦，红红绿绿，黑黑白白，翻来覆去的变幻，折腾着爱美的人。
