有一次总部来的大老板问大家是否结婚了是否有孩子，有一个年轻同事说 I am living in sin.

提问：我的这位同事结婚了吗？

你得认识 live in sin 这个说法才能听懂她的意思。

Live in sin字面是在罪中活着，是一句古老的英语成语，意思就是未婚，但跟男/女朋友在同居，就是中文习惯说的未婚同居状态。在现代英文中这个说法通常是开玩笑的语气。

Free Dictionary解释说 To cohabit outside marriage. This term from the early 1800s, is used mostly jocularly today.

曾几何时，未婚同居在中国大陆不仅是不道德的，甚至是违法行为。八十年代，未婚同居者在很多人眼中跟流氓阿飞差别不大，风险极高，名声极臭。

在Brides.com网站上读到一段话，挺有意思：
