第1758期：枪声背后的自卑与自怜

贫家子弟考上重点大学，赴美留学读研、读博，一度是家族的传奇，本来是成功的人生。在案情查明之前，一切只是猜测。

今天不聊案情，来聊聊这起悲剧事件背后的一个英文单词：Incel.

据端媒体转帖的嫌疑人捕前两则推文，似乎他的心理有点问题。

有人提出他可能是Incel的一员。

Incel是个新造的混成词（portmanteau），由 Involuntary Celibates揉合而成，字面意思是“非自愿独身”或“非自愿禁欲者”。

Merriam-Webster字典对Incel的解释是：

a person (usually a man) who regards himself or herself as being involuntarily celibate and typically expresses extreme resentment and hostility toward those who are sexually active.

另一个网站的解释更直接：Incels are heterosexual men who blame women and society for their lack of romantic success. （https://www.adl.org/resources/backgrounder/incels-involuntary-celibates）

据Wikipedia，Incel这个词是1990年代由一个加拿大女同性恋网民自造的。2010年代这个词忽然走红，却成了白人男同性恋者常用的词，指的是那些渴望对象但苦于找不到只能保持单身的人（people who define themselves as unable to get a romantic or sexual partner despite desiring one），意思就是不是主动选择单身的，是找不到对象。

根据这个解释，Incel 只是自怜自艾，为自身吸引不到异性而自卑，跟另一种病态心理“厌女症”（misogyny）不同，后者是 the hatred or dislike of women or girls. 这类人更可怕。
