第849期：乌鸦嘴和扫帚星，一句美剧里的话
年初我写过一篇小文，讲了good omen, bad omen好兆头、坏兆头，其中也提到了 jinx 可以对应汉语里的“扫帚星”。
前不久，一位朋友给我留言，提供了几句美剧里的话，作为我的创作素材。感谢这位朋友，经常给我灵感。
今天，我就接着那一期的 jinx 再讲一句美剧里常见的话：Don’t jinx it. 别乌鸦嘴了。

Jinx 作名词时意思是厄运、不吉利的事或人，所以我说 jinx 类似封神榜里姜子牙的老婆，后来被封神为扫帚星。
Jinx 作动词时意思是带来厄运。这是我们今天要讲的重点。
简单地说，“to jinx it” means to make it have bad luck.
口语中说 Don’t jinx it. 意思就类似说 Don’t ruin it.
怎么ruin it呢？这背后有两层微妙的意思。
第一种是说不吉利的话。例如你第一天开车上路，旁边坐着的朋友说“可别撞了”，结果就真的撞了。
例如：
A: “That engine does not sound right. I hope it doesn’t blow up on you while you’re driving.”
B: “Come on, don’t jinx it!” 滚，别乌鸦嘴。
第二种是说吉利的话。例如你在期待一件好事，一边紧张盼望结果一边又不敢想得太好，生怕破了福气。
例如：
A: I am sure you will pass. 你肯定能过（例如考试）
B: Shut up. Don’t jinx it. 闭嘴。说破福气。
这两种都是迷信的心理，但各国人民都相信。
其实还有第三种微妙的情况。例如一件事发生之前，你不希望任何人谈论这件事。好像一提就没好运了似的。
例如：
“I hope it does not rain tomorrow.”
“Don’t jinx it” meaning, if you talk about it, something will go wrong. Your hope for not raining tomorrow might bring rain tomorrow.
迷信害死人啊同学们。
除了Don’t jinx it之外，还有一个常见的形式 Don’t jinx me. 意思类似“别咒我”，用法和意思其实和 Don’t jinx it差不多。
